During the course of the year it has been discussed that Moose Jaw Minor Baseball Association should shift focus and align ourselves under a Unified Name that would be worn and emblazoned on all our of our teams through all age groups.
The Board formed a committee that was tasked with the herculean task of digging up and sifting through Moose Jaw’s Baseball history. This committee reached out to numerous long standing and respected baseball persons compiling a list of historical names and various tenures of the names. A few names were brought forth to the Board during a committee report during our last board meeting. The Board discussed the history and various pros and cons of each name eventually deciding unanimously to amalgamate the MJMBA Banner under the longest tenured baseball name in Moose Jaw. This name can be traced back to 1946 with it being worn by the ‘senior’ team for the better part of a decade. It has been used by the minor program for over 40 years and now will be worn by all of our players going into the future.
Moose Jaw Minor Baseball Association is proud to announce the name that was chosen is the Canucks.
This change will be brought in over the next 4 years as teams are created and current jerseys are replaced. The Board is excited about the possibilities that this unified name brings from an organizational stand point. We look forward to having the Moose Jaw Canuck name becoming a provincial staple among Baseball Saskatchewan Championships and entrenching Moose Jaw as a Baseball City again!
MJMBA is hosting their Annual General Meeting on November 15th, 2018 at 7pm in the Curling room inside Mosaic Place.
